Here is some pics of my lastest wee toy
first a bit of history
back in 2002 I bought a brand new saxo vtr
over the first 3 years as i got into track days and seeing what had been done with other saxo's I fitted 285mm discs, 15in speedline turnins, and after trying both gmc suspension setups with both 50mm and 40mm springs i had 180lbs faulkner springs made up to match bilstein sport shocks front and rear with 25 rear arb
the engine remained pretty much std with gmc stainless manifold, full scorpion exhaust and bmc induction kit
I always wanted to supercharge my vtr but not having the money to do so in march 2006 Mikes old supercharged vtr came up forsale I could'nt resist
after a test drive and feeling the differance in power i had to have it
got the car home and set about swapping over my speedlines and faulkner springs which were alot smoother riding than the crashy gmc 50mm springs already fitted
this car developed approx 160bhp with a std vtr lump bar an extra head gasket to lower compression
however after a couple years and realising this car was costing far too much to maintain and finding out my fiancee claire had become pregnant, in jan this year the car was sold along with my blue vtr to be replaced with a very tidy mondeo st24
obviously quite a differant beast to the saxos to drive and lot heavier and missing being able to chuck a car about, one night whilst browsing through ebay i spotted this a tidy but far from perfect 2000 saxo vts with 50k on the clock, entered my max bid of £1000 and the car was mine
and here it is
so far i have fitted my speedlines and bmc induction kit, as well as giving the bodywork a much needed tidy up, still a few scuff marks and little dings remain but this will mainly just get used on track so it will no doubt pick up a few more
as for plans my budget is'nt massive and the car is already pretty rapid, i will see how the car handles on track first, i may uprate the suspension however im quite impressed really with the std setup, feels very tight and compliant down some favourite back roads of mine,
over the next few months im keen to get rid of some weight, strip the interior out fit a roll cage for some safety, then start on the engine, just starting with breathing mods for the moment.
