Post subject: Throttle Bodied 106 Rallye...She's home at last!

Right, well I haven't QUITE got my greasy paws on the car itself yet!!
BUT, I thought i'd start a blog so things are up and running, as i started to do a few bits to the engine tonight and managed to get some good pics of the ports/angle of the pug sport bodies etc etc.
Anyway here we go:
PART 1:
As i'd removed the inlet recently to get the Carbon Trumpets made by Streamline Carbon, I had to re-bond the bodies back onto the engine to seal them properly again. Below are a few pics of the engine with the intakes loosley bolted on, prior to the re-seal process, then pics of the bonding itself, then a pic of it all sorted.
Here she is unveiled again (it's almost like a statue than a race engine!):
Angle of the Direct to head Pug Sport Throttle Bodies:
Close of up of port down intake:
Intakes off:
Close up of Porting:
PART 2:
Work in progress:
Cleaned Face:
Cleaned face of intakes (Old sealant removed etc):
The Sealant:
Apply to both surfaces carefully:
All bolted back on, and none seeped into the ports either!:
And all done:
Next thing is to collect the car, fit the engine and box (with the help of Hank), get Bobby (wire wizard) to get it running, then fit my seat, brakes and steering wheel to it and we should be good to go **Fingers crossed**

Like this DJ?
Looks like a large step to me?! surely not though. must be a funny angle on the camera or something.
Your engine looks lovely Lewis! like the odd bits of carbo, really sets it off nice

Also Lewis.. didn't longman give you a dyno read out for this engine?
As it doesn't look like its been run as it looks very much like theres still assembly lubricant at the base of the valve stems/guides in the pics.
Just saw your Alternator pulley too must be so small as its revving high.. I guess it would overspeed the alternator with normal size pulleys in place

Lookin at steve's pic there is a small lip but i expect the camera has exagerated this.
Nice little touch iv just noticed is removing the timing gear from the flywheel and using a timing wheel on the alternator pulley!

thanks guys
Lol, that 'streetlight' is a garden light and the only thing I had to work with at the time!!
The 'step' you guys can see isn't actually a step as such, it's kind've an slight groove cut out from the top of the throttle body, like you could put an 'O' ring in there or summat. I think it's probably something to do with how the pug sport trumpets fit to them, but as mine are different I haven't used it. It's hard to explain as i'd need to draw a profile diagram o give you a proper idea. There isn't a step though that's just the camera angle exaggerating it!!
Well I know the bodies have O rings but they are quite old, and probably not up to the job hence the gasket sealant. Longmans had used it before so I thought it prudent to copy their work, i'm sure they did it for a reason! Just make sure no air is leaking I guess, high performance engine and all that. I have a pic of the sump and the pulleys too which i'll post tomorrow or summat. Should be in the rallye on the 15th August!
