Accessories For Sale / Black Saxo VTS (Breaking)
« on: 22, November, 2011, 17:27:58 PM »
Hey guys/girls,

After a number of years its time to break the car as selling it will be pointless (maybe).

Its a black VTS with 708 cams.
New 30mm springs at front which havent been settled in yet as the car is road worthy.
Its pretty damn quick, I mean its just awesome when its working. It failed an MOT a few years ago and I have slowly been putting it back together and the final piece of the puzzle is the exhaust which needs replacing.

This is the motor in all its glory...

The wheels arent anything like that in terms of condition, its kerbed, a lot.

It has a enclosed air filter as well. It was running 150bhp when I bought this back in Dec 2006.

The body work is pretty mint but car hasnt been fully inspected for a while as its been in the garage.

So...before I whack it on ebay (parts I mean), please let me know if you are interested in anything...literally all the parts are there.

The passenger side air bag has gone off but thats the only thing I think.

Mods - sorry if this is in the wrong section...been a while since I last posted.

Engines & Tuning / Alternator ... Help Please
« on: 21, February, 2010, 18:51:33 PM »
Right...tested the alternator with a multimeter and its producing less then 13 volt, aroun 12.2ish.
Am i right to think the alternator is crap and i need a new one? Im guessing this would solve my heater, demister and PAS problem.

It was a 2nd hand one. As i said, im going to get the multimeter on it tomorrow and hopefully that will show me the big 14v. Assuming it does show 14volts, would that mean the alt is working fine and its another problem im dealing with?

I tried again to bridge the two brown wires and had some success as the battery light went off and the heater/demister stayed on continuously but when i pressed down on the accelerator, the problems occured and then the battery died.

Bad times

Thanks for that. I have checked all the fuses and they look in good working order. I tried bridging the two brown cables (under steering wheel) together but the 3 probs became intermittant and not resolved. I have read countless threads about this problems but i need to check the voltage of the alternator still. Hopefully its not the alternator as Ive just had it changed.

Troubleshooting & Technical Issues / Power Steering Delayed

Hi,
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but in the pic above, the green and yellow wire which is plugged into the \"from loom\" connector, where is that taken from?
Thanks

Thanks Dinga.
Am I right to assume the fuses are in the engine bay in this scenario?
As I said, before the battery just died every other night and now, its just looking bad.

Hey folks,
My alternator was on its way out, wouldnt charge and would die every other day.
I changed it the other night and got a garage to put the belt on and tighten it. Now the power steering is not working, the heating is not working and car runs worse then before.

Is it the case where the alternator i bought is a dodgy one or could there be something worse to worry about?

Thanks

General Chat / Alternator Query
« on: 12, January, 2010, 12:44:04 PM »
Guys,

(Mods, sorry i know this is in the wrong place but need an answer asap, I\'ll understand if it is moved)

I need a VTS alternator and I have just rang a local scrappy and they have an alternator from a VTR (not sure what mark though).

Are they the same and would it matter if it was from a mark 1 vtr going onto a mark 2 vts?

Cheers guys

Troubleshooting & Technical Issues / Petrol Cap Not Opening
« on: 03, January, 2010, 22:08:47 PM »
Hey guys,

This evening I went to put some petrol in and for some reason, the petrol cap did not open, the key would go in but it wouldnt turn. I thought it may have something to the cold freeze which is kicking in as we speak but the other locks were ok.

When trying to open it, the plastic cover came off exposing the locking mechinism but even then, the key would not turn?

Any advise would be great as im low on petrol.

Thanks

Honestly, if you have the money to spend, then get yourself an exhaust and filter but imo, i wouldnt really waste money on it.

P.s. if you do end up buying mods, look around for decent prices. Dont go straight to your nearest halfords and pay full whack.

Keep us updated though!
