You will need to grind a bit off the calipers to stop them rubbing. Particularly if you have wheel balancing weights on the inside.

2
Angle grinded the last set of locking nuts then cold chisel. Few mins each max.

3mm spacers should sort it, aswell as chopping or rearing the rear arch as once you space it out they will stick out too far......

Sunroof drainage pipes blocked up?

1.1 will give quicker shifts.
You will still need to use vts driveshafts. 1.1s done have the intermediate bearing. The only difference inndriveshafts kther than that is at the hub end. Some are tapered some are square.
Probably less likely to be ragged if its a 1.1 gearbox and usually cheaper.

As mentioned 1.3 is the best to go for.

Will mean you have to shift more. Ratios are closer together.
Depends what you want from the car really. All the gear boxes are interchangable

Spark plugs.

possibly. when was the last time they were changed?
When was the last time it was serviced with oil, air filter and fuel filter changed?

Would also take off the ICV and give this a clean up.
Do you have an induction kit or any leaks in your air system?

Gti will probably cost you a little more but will have leather. Saxo will be cheaper.
I would go for an unlowered car. Most have rear beam problems because they havent been lowered properly.

1 of them used to be 1 insurance group lower than the other but cant remember which way round it was.
My 1.1 engine had done 120k and was still going strong when i changed it. Engine it had in when i sold it had 1.4 bottom end with over 100k and rallye head which had done under 100k.
New owner now uses it as a daily drive with no issues.

would first of all see if both of you can get exhaust problems sorted. Leaking exhaust can cause fueling problems. fueling could be increasing, more fuel burning = more heat, more heat then causes it to get hotter and fan to kick in.
Would also check fan switch though. think its blue connector that goes down one fo the sides of the rad. They are only a few quid from halfords so always worth a check.

Give the ICV a clean, this could stop the erratic idling, and also give the throttle mechanism a spray with some grease. this could maybe getting stuck causing it to rev high.
